The biggest challenge for users of renewable energy sources is its rational use. A characteristic feature of energy supplied from RES is its high variability, so that it can sometimes have a destabilizing effect on the power grid. For this reason, an extremely important role is played by energy storage facilities.

Energy storage facilities make it possible to accumulate excess energy produced during peak production hours and give it back during periods of less favorable production (increased cloud cover, less wind, etc.) as well as allow to supply energy to the grid in a stable manner.

Their equally important feature is that they allow to avoid costly investments. In a situation where, due to the development of an enterprise or other area with a demand for electricity, the demand for energy increases, it may become necessary to increase the connection capacity (increased consumption occurs in short periods of time). This situation may involve increased operating costs due to penalties (exceeding the contracted capacity) or due to the need to reconstruct the power connection. It should also be taken into account that reconstruction is not always possible. In such a situation, the use of energy storage seems to be the best solution.
