Windmills and energy storage
Nearly 47 million from the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Wroclaw for four wind power plants with a total capacity of 10 MW is the first phase of new investments in the Oława Grove near Wroclaw.
Four more energy storage facilities are planned.
The new investments will consume a total of nearly PLN 100 million.
Expected effects of the wind turbines include a reduction in air emissions of nearly 28,000 tons of the greenhouse gas CO2 and dust by 1,300 tons per year.
The Olawa-based company plans to store the clean energy produced in four lithium-ion energy storage facilities with a total capacity of 12 MWh
Energy Storage Facilities will help solve the very important problem of windmills not generating power at times - when there is no wind or very little wind. Then energy to the grid will flow from the storage facilities.
At a time when power demand is low, storage facilities again come to the rescue, storing the excess energy produced by the windmills.
